I would wait for the full tact included version without any doubt

Button included sounds like a really good idea. Was there a reason the Popcorn version used a latching switch? Regular tactile seems to make more sense when compared to most reset buttons like this.

That was because the pololu version of the graceful shutdown doesn't shutdown the powerboost. So for long time without playing it's nice if you can shut it down.

  • On-board tactile reset button (slightly longer wait time due to delivery of buttons)
  • Just reset pin headers (quicker)
I think just pin headers would be best honestly. Having the reset in a fixed position obviously limits where the resetting would occur and i'm sure everyone would rather decide the location of it themselves. Whether they decide to bore a pin hole somewhere in the case or run it down to the battery area are both good decisions, or just attach the button straight to the board. Flexibility of location and no wait time > fixed location and increased wait time.

Valid points, @Ganreizu. I would include headers as well though. To be honest, the wait time wouldn't be any longer. I'd still have to wait for the batch of boards so I could order button at the same time.

Not every board needs to have the reset button so I can leave that choice up to the individual when ordering. After all, I'm offering the option to have the power switch soldered or not. This would also limit the number of unused reset buttons hidden away inside people's GBZs.

I used a latching switch so I could disconnect the batteries when putting away the unit for longer periods of time. A tact switch will work fine for what you want to do as just a reset.

Just a quick update on the possibility of extra delays. I've found a UK supplier for the reset buttons so all is well.
