Thanks Camble, I got it all going now. Gate and Source were switched. Seems like there are a lot of different pinouts for those transistors.
Now everything works just fine, the DMG is closed again and I'm happy :)

PS: What GPIO would be better then GPIO4?

@alien0matic Glad to hear it. I found that most MOSFETs I used had the gate on pin 2, but the JFETs seemed to have the gate on pin 3. Some datasheets displayed a nice image of the package, making it easy to identify pins. Some showed the pinout from above, others showed the pinout from below. So... definitely worth taking the time to familiarise yourself with the particular JFET you are using. Maybe your 2N5460 was packaged by a different manufacturer and has a different pinout.

Do you have the link for the JFET you bought? I'd like to check it out to make sure others don't get stuck with the same issue.

Any regular BCM pin should be fine. https://pinout.xyz/

I think I used 22.

I bought those transistors. The gate is on the left pin when you look at the photo. http://www.ebay.de/itm/172276817585

That is unusual. Any datasheet I've seen for the 2N5460 has the gate on pin 3. Do you know what the logo on the JFET is?

Unfortunately I don't speak German. :(

Hi Camble, I have an adafruit 1000c recharger and want to handle a graceful shutdown, would this part be relevant in my situation as well? If so how do i go about ordering a pcb from you? :D

@jazzy Yes, this circuit is designed for use with the Adafruit PowerBoost supplies. I'm currently waiting on delivery of an early design of the PCB and will start a sales thread when I have finished testing. Probably still be a few weeks as the boards are coming from the US.

Ah nice, i'll keep a look out for it, i'm based in Scotland too so I don't know if that makes postage any easier, also might have another Scottish modder looking for a board too if you need numbers

I have updated my original thread and the battery monitor github readme.md and have pointed them to this thread as the new recommended hardware solution over the pololu. I will be testing this circuit and if all goes well, I'll completely abandon support of the pololu and push this as the proper method to use. Thanks for your work, @Camble!

Hi all, how tight is the original diy mod in the gameboy shell in the top left corner? Has anyone completed the mod and could post a photo for size?
