So I bought this nespi case:

The only thing I don't like about it is the fact it powers the pi threw the GPIO pins and it bypasses the overload protection circuit.
I got to looking and the micro usb power port and on the bottom side I noticed it had solder pads (pictured)
Am I able to solder my ground and +5v line to 2 of these and power the pi threw the protected circuit?

Yes those are the right pads for protected 5v and gnd.
