Audio issues

Post by Mischief » Sat Jul 02, 2016 8:13 am

Got my smd pcb's from OSH park (https://oshpark.com/shared_projects/qUEOjE0n) and then purchased the resistors and caps, at first I got audio hiss but then after adding the bellow code to /boot/config.txt the hiss went away, however the audio is still quiet (not running through a pot yet) and I have turned it all the way up in raspi config, also some of the games sound stutters but they don't stutter when using HDMI.

Going for stereo headphones so used this code:

Code: Select all

dtoverlay=pwm-2chan,pin=18,func=2,pin2=13,func2=4
This code solved the hiss:

Code: Select all

disable_audio_dither=1
Did I buy the wrong smd's? List of what I purchased bellow all 0805.

270ohm and 150ohm from this listing: http://r.ebay.com/gc4ig6

10uf cap from this listing: http://r.ebay.com/l9EZtE

Have you tried to change the volume through alsamixer?

Yup, turned it up using raspi config (alsamixer) you can hear it through the headphones but it is very quiet.

If you're using RetroPie you can boost the db level in Retroarch (at least I think it's RetroArch) by about 11db or so. Maybe worth a try for you. You can do it while in an emulator by pressing whatever you configured as your "up"+ "select" keys at the same time, then change the setting in the audio menu and back out of the menus to check if the level has changed.
