Nope. Simple connecting wouldn't be possible. It needs to have a logic behind it. So it will need a dedicated IC that translates from microSD to USB. Or directly to SATA (even more cumbersome probably)joe7dust wrote:I did mention that first item as a possible use of the adapter I'm proposing here, but I am talking about connecting it directly to the micro SD slot so that usb thingy wouldn't be needed.Fleder wrote:https://www.amazon.com/Micro-SATA-Adapt ... ta+microsd + https://www.amazon.com/StarTech-SATA-Dr ... +usb&psc=1
Will this work? I don't know.
I think it is a huge waste of money.
I have an idea for a new piece of hardware I think.

I don't understand the technical aspects of guide #5 but wiring sd slot pins to the cartridge reader seems similar to this. I agree the adapter would need some components to do the translation. So yeah I guess IC included in that?Mad_Duke wrote:Nope. Simple connecting wouldn't be possible. It needs to have a logic behind it. Simple wiring of the SD Card Pins to the ones form the Cartridge Reader does nothing.joe7dust wrote:I don't understand the technical aspects of guide #5 but wiring sd slot pins to the cartridge reader seems similar to this. So it is not similar to what you think. It is just some kind of trace or wire if you will.
The critical wiring will be from the cartridge reader to the RPi0, which does the "translation".
So, no. There is no simple adapter solution from SD to SATA/eSATA. Two different data streams.
