BW 3,5 LCD 5v conversion

Post by wowpin » Mon Jul 04, 2016 2:18 pm

Hello All,

I have recently purchased a BW 3,5 LCD screen aiming to get it connected to my Raspberry Pi. I've read a few things about being able to drive one of those screens with 5v rather than a stock 12v via a simple hardware mod. I've found the following guide: http://s20.postimg.org/nxs4pycwt/desolder_IC.jpg

It looks relevant, however my board looks ever so slightly different, perhaps a different revision of the same design:

Would the guide above still apply? Or perhaps someone has some experience with this particular board. I have noticed the chip I'm being told to remove in the guide is also on my PCB. It does indeed look like I may be apply the instructions to my board, but obviously would appreciate some expert opinion :)

Many thanks!

You board appears to be similar to what I got from NiceShopping and I didn't mod it to run on 5v. Did you try testing it unmodded using 5v? Test it first before doing any modding.
