I looked on eBay but don't see any micro SD to sata adapters. (For using an ssd with pi zero without using usb)

Because this would make as much sense as a tape deck to USB 3.0 adapter, speedwise.

Does anybody know what is the maximum transfer of the microSD port of the Raspberry?
But because there is no BIOS an option to boot from different ports would have been nice though.

Please bear in mind that the maximum throughput of the card reader of the Raspberry Pi is 25 MB/s and that most likely read and write speed won't exceed 22 MB/s.

Must say that with a current status of the Pi I would really wish for a SATA port and/or USB 3.0 port in the next iteration.

20-25 MB/s, well. You could grab any card and just make it boot from the USB. Change the boot path on your SD card to boot from an USB and grab an USB-SATA adapter.

I think it would be neat if you could run the pi zero off an ssd and basically turn it into a slow speed Nas good enough for 1080p streaming. This adapter would save a port and I don't like using hubs.
You need a hub and keyboard to put in your WiFi password then you remove the hub and use the 1 usb slot for a WiFi dongle.

No you don't. You just buy a Raspberry Pi (not zero). Anyway. For any NAS operation added (and faster) cores are extremely helpfull.joe7dust wrote: I don't like using hubs.

Connecting any (younger than 10 years) HDD or SSD to a 25MB/s (max) interface doesn't add any value.

I still want a micro sd to sata adapter. Call me crazy but I think I could find a use for it. Maybe connect it to one of those sata to 10+ micro SD cards slots lol!

Will this work? I don't know.
I think it is a huge waste of money.

I did mention that first item as a possible use of the adapter I'm proposing here, but I am talking about connecting it directly to the micro SD slot so that usb thingy wouldn't be needed.Fleder wrote:https://www.amazon.com/Micro-SATA-Adapt ... ta+microsd + https://www.amazon.com/StarTech-SATA-Dr ... +usb&psc=1
