Which Dremel?

Just stumbled across this project and am getting all enthusiastic. I've been keen on a Dremel for a few years, this is probably the point I crack and buy one. My question is, is the Dremel 3000-15 suitable?

- I don't do that many projects
- I already have an 18V drill
- The next model up is twice the price and has lots of extras I don't see myself needing

I think the 3000 (+ a small, cheap pack of extra heads) is a good way to go - what do you reckon?

Hi there!

I own the 4000-4/65 EZ kit, so i can tell you, from experience, that the accessories are not that great for this huge price difference.
I was anthusiastic as you are now and thought, hey, the more the better, but i hardly use them and the flex shaft, the reason i bought this kit, is not that great. From my experience, you are better off holding the dremel in your hand than using this shaft.
You have to mount your dremel higher than you are, to the ceiling or something like that, for it to work properly.
So keep that in mind and go with the cheaper one. Especially if you do not use it to its full potential.

I actually use a knockoff Dremel, made by WEN. Super cheap and I've had no complaints about it.

Hi!

I'm also very enthusiastic about making one of these GBZs. I already bought a Pi0 and a defect GameBoy. Now i'm looking for a Dremel. I don't want to spend too much money on this, I sort of only need it for this project.
This in mind, does someone have a cheap offer from a german shop or Banggood (since I want to order most of my parts there) for me?
I would really appreciate it!

Hah yeah, I just found that one (I started ordering a US one to my sister-in-laws but then realised it's probably not 240V compliant (although it is listed as 120V in the US, so I suspect there is a transformer involved).

Screw it, I'll go that way.

I'm doing an excel sheet for a 'from scratch' build at the moment, the price is adding up, but it's staving off my reflexive need to build a proper new PC.. And all my RPI0 is doing is distracting me at work...

Hah, awesome. It blows my mind that a game that required a beefy computer (for the time) to play when I was a teenager, is now playable on a computer the size of a pack of gum.
