Wow, that looks really impressive for a sticker.
its vinyl, alot better than if it was just normal sticker paper.....

i actually have tried water slide paper and sticker paper.... both are fine... but the corners are hard to work around....

at least with vinyl it can be heated up to a little more malleable state....

Really impressive for an InkJet printer. I have a high end color LaserJet at home and will test these out on vinyl laser stock. I like the idea of not using the Altoids name and supporting the community. Fantastic work, VeteranGamer!

That looks super impressive and I like how it has a 3D look so the print looks like it's embossed.

@VeteranGamer the stickers look awesome!! I'm going with vinyl sticker paper as well with a clear overlaminate to give a bit more durability.

still in the testing stages, but just to let others know that are going to be using a blank tin like me (hense tinty pi, and not minty pi)

i tried a few methods, but the one that i'm going to go with is the vinyl gloss sticker paper route

its waterproof and has a nice feel to it, and more importantly the results are very good (especially coming from my basic inkjet printer at home)

Image

first attempt (slightly rushed) and without the use of any heat (hairdryer or similar) to make it go around the corners easier
and my knife work needs a little more attention....

but it sticks and applys really easily (room for correction if you go wrong, as vinyl should be)

not the finished product, and i may end up giving the final tin a coat or two of clear lacquer (to add more durabilty, not sure if it will be matt or gloss)
You should make a run of these, or at least show us how to do this stuff :)

not really looking to make a run or supply, its not my thing :| ....

but i did try to get ppl to come up with their own designs and really to get something going like the GBZ cart labels....

viewtopic.php?f=30&t=2885

even with providing a photoshop PSD, no one seemed really interested :( ....
so going by that, i doubt its even worth considering doing runs or supplying....

as for doing it yourself....

just print it out on vinyl sticker paper (at home) http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/162311025607
and apply it to the tin

its that simple....

second attempt with some heat (hair dryer)

alot better around the corners, but didn't account for some shrinkage, and i need to change the blade on my knife...

plus i might avoid the hair dryer and use a heat gun instead (hair dryers a bit too blowy)

Thanks. Might chime in to a design but without using photoshop because I don't have it

Nice thing about them is, they feel like they've got a lower actuation force than the regular 6x6mm tact switches - IMO they feel closer to a common ground membrane.
Well the ones I ordered arrived today but woah do they have a high activation force! And super clicky too...
Ah well next time!

just an update....

thank you Wermy (for the all work put in these projects, the forum and ultimately sharing with us...)

i'm going for a completely custom look (if the tin didnt give it away)

now i have a feeling i know what some of you are thinking (maybe i dont)....
why remove the minty pi logo (i know effort went into the design)

i plan to use waterslide decal paper to add the start and select to the design and also power which is the third button on the right, i might have to sand and spray paint the front pieces (bezal and button front)

might seem a bit over board, but this build is for me....

i'm also going to add something to the bottom of the tin, a bit similar to the actual altoids tin (but no barcode or nutrition facts or ingredients)

Image

its going to be on clear decal paper, photoshop decided to give it the grey background when converting to jpeg

I was hoping to get the assembly done this weekend, but cant for the life of me find the screws i purchase (one draw back of ordering items way in advance)

might order some more today, they may come by saturday
