TintyPi Custom Build [Completed]
firstly i wanna give a big shout out and thanks to Helder for hooking me up with one of the prototype boards (cant thank you enough)
and obviously Wermy for shining a light on this great project and all the work his done (and Helder) hats off to you both
i've got everything i think i need, with the exception of the 3d printed parts
ive got a usb dac, as advised by wermy
but as Helder advised that the crystal will have to be removed and extended elsewhere for it to fit, ive gone a ordered one of these... it costs little bit more than the one i already have, but the crystal is smaller and should avoid any modding needed....
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/5V-USB- ... 559.JfJ0k1
i'm also going to be using this power module, instead of the powerboost, its alot cheaper (alot cheaper) and initial tests are really positive....
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/5pcs-5V ... 0.0.ek1qtY
testing done on a pi zero, it powers it up with no issues (only connected with a 3.7v battery)
plus i'm not that impressed with the replica/copy buttons for the ds lite, there not constructed like the original/genuine are.. and the letters are poorly printed on (which i suspect will rub off fairly quickly)
so i found a seller in the UK that is selling refurbished/used original/genuine button sets for a really decent price, i ordered a set of grey and black and both are in great condition (even the pads) you wouldnt know the differenct between new and these
plus @abrugsch may have some (get them before they go), so seriously consider them instead of the copies

Nice! I have the same usb soundcard, i was hoping it would work, and i just had it sitting around. I've also ordered the one suggested by wermy as well for my second minty pi..
I'm looking forward to all the minty pi builds. The forum has seemed to slow down a bit. So it'll be Nice!

Re: TintyPi (WIP)
I'm excited for the first MintyPi build on the forum!
On the subject of that power supply: I have a very similar board (it came with @Dextech's custom GBZ battery and is meant to be used for a USB power bank). Do you think it would work for my MintyPi? Take a look at the pictures

Re: TintyPi (WIP)
this one could be the easier option, even though its not that easy to get hold off (could only find it on aliexpress)....rodocop wrote: ↑Sat Jun 24, 2017 7:23 amNice! the one that Wermy recommended is available on every platform, im more than likely gonna try one in a GBZ build (the one Wermy suggested)

Re: TintyPi (WIP)
i'm not sure about that one, have you tried to power a pi zero with it (just soldered/connect a battery to it and see)muniosi wrote: ↑Sat Jun 24, 2017 9:55 amI'm excited for the first MintyPi build on the forum!

their are a few of these similar sized board out there, this one seem the most decent (no technical knowledge was used, just looked more populated)
the one i got works, so chuffed about that... i havent actually powered anything else other than a pi zero (with an xbox controller hooked to it), i at some point gonna hook a pi zero and a screen via power strip to it and see the results
but it powering the pi zero no problem is promising for the mintypi build

Re: TintyPi [WIP]
So the soundcard that wermy used and recommended, (and took me 3 weeks to get) doesn't fit? Or just with that screen/board?

i knows its a bit premature, but as theres not a mintyPi showoff corner yet (hopefully this might start one off)

Re: TintyPi [WIP]
ahhh! this is why I've been getting requests for buttons. I've never had actual buttons for sale. just PCB's and Slot 2 ports. my joblot was for PCB's only, not case parts. I literally only have the case parts from a couple of broken DSL's that I'm fixing/turning into gameboy macro's.VeteranGamer wrote: ↑Sat Jun 24, 2017 4:24 am

you're right about the repro button quality not being as good as the originals (printed A,B,X,Y labels rather than being moulded through for starters) but he quality does vary across the vendors so maybe there are some good ones out there <-- apparently that's a shrug...

Re: TintyPi [WIP]
Very excited to see the first MintyPi being shown off.
The real question remains: how much hot glue is VeteranGamer going to use for his build?
