Be careful when showing off your brand new Minty Pi

I brought mine in to work, and everyone loved it. They thought it was the coolest thing ever! Tons of questions about how I made it, what it can do, etc.

The first two people who were checking it out flipped the switch to turn it off before handing it back to me! After that, I made sure to explain that it had to be shut down properly, not just throw the switch.

I love my minty pi, and I don't want to take it apart to replace a micro sd card because of damage due to improper shut downs. Learn from my mistake!

Same here, luckily I have taken an image of the final build in case anything did get corrupted. I would advise everyone to do the same.

Sure. I use applepi baker on my Mac and it works great for burning or creating an image.

It's kind of like backing up your hard drives with all your photos and info. People don't think about it until they've lost all their data. It's not a matter of if, it's a matter of when.

A competitor of Retropie, named Recalbox (https://www.recalbox.com/) takes the improper shutdown issue so seriously that they made the core OS read-only, with only the saves and rom read/write. Only your saves and roms are at risk to improper shutdown, instead of your whole installation. Alot less painful to fix. In that way, Recalbox is better suited for handhelds and other things likely to shutdown unexpectedly.
