Actually, I just had a look on the datasheet that adafruit provide for the battery

https://cdn-shop.adafruit.com/datasheet ... 200mah.pdf

That says standard charge current is 0.2c (240miliamps) and the maximum is 1c (1200miliamps)

It's interesting that adafruit recommend 500miliamps as the maximum (0.4c)

So maybe I'm off to check what resistor is on my boards

Get a small cheep LCD in your project https://www.sudomod.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=2312
Wrap it all round a battery https://www.sudomod.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=2292
Or use a custom PCB to make it really small https://www.sudomod.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=2512
or make it really really really really tiny!! https://www.sudomod.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=2919

Am I missing anything? Genuine question Coz I still can't quite believe it myself! It could be even cheaper too! If I had more patience, I could probably get the most expensive item, (The battery) cheaper from China. The one I listed is UK based. And the charging boards could be bought in bulk for a little over 50p a piece! (cost above is just for one.)
I totally believe this this costing as it's a very similar overall costing to mine! I'm using mainly salvaged and spare parts and DIY'ing certain elements...
my most expensive parts have been the Pi zero W and helder's prototype button PCB. I'm using some screen adapters by MoosePR and everything else is either spare or salvaged.

Column B is what I've specifically bought for this project (in £) column C is stuff i already had as spares and D is the cost if i'd paid the proper price for it (like using an adafruit micro lipo instead of a cheap Chinese charging board)

I didn't see anything for connecting the screen to the pi, or is the screen one with a PCB?

Yep. Not sure yet whether I'm chopping the board, or desoldering the sdcard holder. I'd like to go with the latter coz I have a couple of ideas for other projects where that could be useful...
