I'm in Canada, and while Altoids' Peppermint red tins are readily available in certain stores like Shoppers Drug Mart, the other types are hard to obtain unless we order them online, such as Wintergreen (blue) and Cinnamon (dark red / scarlet). So I ordered the latter two, and have the red as a backup. However, I want to make sure the outer labels for these 'valuable' ones are well-protected when I play my Minty Pi.

Now, I was wondering, what would be my options? I do have Mod Podge acrylic clear glossy spray, though I don't know how well it will work on tin. I've only used it on plastic figurines. I probably only need to spray the top face and bottom face, and I'll wrap tape around the other parts so that the spray does not get near them and accidentally cause the parts and hinges to stick.

Anyways, I'm so excited about this project. I'm making a Minty Pi for my daughter. Day 1 is completed and I finished my first goal of making the outer holes.

Maybe something like a screen protector for a smartphone or some other clear plastic to cover the top?

Would give it a rubbery texture and protect it pretty well. Hmm...

Hmm. Or how about even a slim pouch or case, like one that is normally used for a small camera. That should provide enough protection for the system while traveling.

Hm I would believe a pouch would be a great idea but the material residue would be problematic coming in all the small cracks and filed open endings of the tin.

I'm using my Oakley sunglasses pouch that came with my sunglasses. Perfect size for the tin and really soft like a lint free cloth.

But just think about it a second, wouldn't a rugged look look nice too, like a really retro feeling
