Audio Switch like GBZ

Post by shurtle » Sun Aug 06, 2017 1:55 am

Is it possible to add a headphone jack and have the audio output switch to the headphones from the speakers whenever the headphones are plugged in? I'd like to have that feature as I already loathe the people that blast their music in public and I don't want to be one. :D

It's been asked a bunch of times already and it is possible but you need to find a place for it in the tin and mount the headphone socket somewhere out of place from all the wires. Or where you asking for someone to do it for you in another version of the board?

I was just asking if it was possible, I know it is cramped as it is already in the tin, so maybe a revision in the next version of the board. Looking forward to building it regardless!

I've been thinking about this all week, while waiting for parts. Here's what I plan on doing:

I've ordered the tiniest switching headphone jack I could find on digikey:
https://www.digikey.com/product-detail/ ... -ND/659935
These are cheap so I grabbed a couple in case I messed one up.

I've found that it fits in the existing 3d printed parts by wermy nicely like this...

This would put the headphone jack on the back, and you would have to find somewhere else to put the crystal.

A better solution, I think, is to modify the base, and move the battery slightly up.

I haven't tested this out yet, but if it all works, I'll probably share the STL.

Here's how it would all fit together, excluding the crystal.

Looks promising! Another forum member posted an alternative sound card that doesn't have a crystal that you would have to relocate: https://m.aliexpress.com/s/item/3256717 ... 1#autostay

If you only use the Adafruit lipo charger and not the 500c you might get away with it in the space remaining. Haven't actually measured up yet but seems possible.

Those jacks that attach to Helders AIO 2.2 for example are long and thin. I reckon they would fit.

Could you please share the stl? I really want to try this out.

And how should i wire this up so that it switches from the speaker to the headphones?
