Which game system emulators will work really well?

Post by stevepax » Tue Nov 21, 2017 2:27 pm

Of all the retropie emulators, which ones will give me some good success on the mintypi?

I assume the NES, yes? And SNES? What about Sega genesis? What about N64?

How about going back as far as Atari 2600 or 7800?

Just want to make sure I load games that are going to work well. What game systems are you using, and finding success with?

For clarity, mintyPi differs in no way from a GBZ assuming a Pi Zero is used.

The Pi Zero is the limiting factor in terms of what can and cannot be emulated.

All of the aforementioned work well, aside from N64.

N64 can work well for 'most' roms using a Pi3, often with some tweaks. For a Pi Zero, I wouldn't bother.

Anything 16-Bit and below generally works well on a Pi Zero. Again, there are often multiple emulators for each console so if you find a specific game doesn't play nice, you can try using a different one of changing some settings on boot.

PS - All this information is already out there
