Am I able to edit software code? Also, how do I add other games to the mintyPi?

Am I able to edit software code? Also, how do I add other games to the mintyPi?

I was wondering if I was able to edit the software code and change the startup screen images. What I mean to say is that when I power on the mintyPi I want to be able to change the image saying "minty pi" on the startup screen and change it to an image/video I would like to put in myself. For that part, if I cannot change the minty pi startup screen image, am I able to edit the "retro pi" image on the startup screen? Other than that, I was wondering if and how I can add games onto the mintyPi, and do they have to be certain types? Can I add random files from something like scratch on it or does it have to be a specific type of game, like a super mario game? Thank you!

I would highly recommend reading up on Retropie, its the OS used on the mintyPi builds/project

before you even attempt "to edit the software code" or make minor changes within the Retopie setup/config....
make sure you read up property and come to a relative understanding of what Retropie is, how it works and what you intend to change...

especially as certain features and setups are specific for the mintyPi and changing anything may NOT bode well
