Mintypi 3 build issue - power related ?

Post by exodus » Sun Feb 07, 2021 8:28 pm

Hi,

FINALLY got around to finishing my mintypi 3 build. I'm only a revision behind. :)

I'm having issues powering the pi/pcb from the power board. I verified the screen and pi/pcb boots and I can safe shut down via the magnet. When I power via the battery the screen white powers up and then goes dark. There is no audio. When I power via the USB (with the battery removed) the screen flickers white continuously. I then again tried powering through the pi power port directly and it works fine. The power board is the updated revision without the wire work around.

Suggestions of things to try and voltages areas to test back to report? Thanks!

Pics for reference. I'll cross post to discord too.

I always like to start small, is the battery seated in the board/3d printed part fully and when you plug in a charger does it seem to be charging? (Going from red to green)

Cross posting from Discord - I pulled the connector cable from the power board to the main board for this test. The LED on the power board does NOT change from red to green with the USB and battery plugged in (its fully seated)
