Hello sudomodders,
this might be a silly question.. but to be sure I would like to ask in this newly created and beautiful hardware HALP!!! section.
I already have a 6 pins small power switch, the dimensions are almost matching the adafruit ones used by wermy in his guide.
But it's a 6 pins (like the one used in the GBZ build)
Can I use it anyway? I figured I should just join the pins so that from 6 I get 3.. is that correct?
Maybe the fact that the pins are sticking out from the top might be a problem, but I can always trim them a bit.

You could connect the 2 pins and tie the center pin to the battery like Wermy did and if the switch is similar in dimensions it should work but trim the pins.

I'll definitely try that and trim the pins.. they are way too long.. thank you Helder

a 6 pin switch is just 2 3-pin switches side by side (DPDT - Double Pole, Double Throw), so you could use the other side to switch something else entirely. that's the double POLE part. double THROW means it switches the centre pin to one of either the outer 2 pins, SINGLE Throw is like a tact switch, it just connects 2 points together or not
here's a circuit diagram explaining the different types:

Wermy is using the 3 pin SPDT switch like a SPST switch, but as you can see from the diagram, you can use any of those 4 like a SPST just by only connecting the bits you want

No worries. I always feel a little odd about detailing basic components but then I have to remember not everyone has a background in electronics. Sorry if you knew all this already.

I use these switches and often just bridge the corresponding pins into one, much like kite does on his SAIO.

Or you can cut them away if not needed.
