R button pad lifted!!!

Post by AF5000 » Thu Aug 03, 2017 1:28 pm

Hello, So here's what happened, I was putting the mintypi together and while testing it, I found the R button stopped working, I opened it up to find the R button cable ripped off and took the pad with it, :o. I was wondering, is there any way to fix the board or get a new one? (I don't want to get a whole new kit) Thanks.

There seems to be a problem with your image... But what you're describing sounds like something that's happened to several other people. I covered how to fix it in a followup video a few days ago: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FHJbVo8cn-o

Edit: Sorry, forgot to post the link. Added. :)

Hi wermy, I watched the video, and in that you covered some stuff about connecting the GPIO holes, but my problem is, the wire from the tatctile switch for the R button got ripped straight off the button PCB, and the pad came with it, let me retry the photo...

EDIT: I just realized I can connect the wire directly to the GPIO Hole!!!

Use less solder and also only have a tiny bit of wire exposed, that black wire has a bunch of copper showing and I'm assuming it's a GND wire but it can still short something with so much exposure. In case you didn't know all those pads connect to one GPIO so if all else fails wire directly to the GPIO.
