config menus just go to black screen

So far ive managed to get to the testing phase all the necessary hardware is working but when i try to show the ip or any other option in the config menu the screen just goes black and it wont let me exit or anything until i reboot it. i know for a fact that its not connecting to the network and i cant figure out why so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try connecting your sound card. I did run into a similar issue which I believe stems from the intro video. Having the sound card connected fixed it for me.

I am having the same problem. I connected my sound card via USB, and not only has the problem persisted, but I'm not getting sound either. I'm using the newest MintyPi image. When I plug the sound card in, it just resets the raspberry pi.

Alright, I was messing around with my MintyPi when I realized that the micro USB port on the right is specifically for power. If you plug the sound card into that one, it won't work. I didn't realize this because my micro USB converter would cover up the other micro USB port. Hope this helped.
