mintypi problems
mintypi problems
So here's my problem.. i have everything together and the mintypi works perfectly. i order the battery monitor pcb and open up my pi when i get it and de-solder the positive and negative terminals. I install the battery monitor pcb and re-solder the positive and negative to it along with the tactile switch for the shutdown button. i start to have problems with the screen where it will work and then just turn all white. Now i've gotten the screen to work an I boot up the mintypi and the boot up screen starts, but then just goes right to emulation station loading screen, completely skiping the Mintypi screen and the sudomod screen. i think nothing of it and try to play a game only to find it just jumps right back to the games list. It does that for every game. So i take the sd card out and format it and restart. Ive been using Ectcher for the image writer and SD card formatter to format. I try this 5-7 times.. I've even bought a new sd card and tried that. Same issue. Sorry for the long post. Hopefully someone can help.

Re: mintypi problems
Sounds like something is not solid or you lost a connection somewhere, post pictures of soldering but good ones of the areas you desoldered and resoldered. This isn't a software issue it's a hardware issue.

Re: mintypi problems
Following this because I've been having the same problem since I installed the safe shutdown board. Continuity checks, soldering is perfect, voltages checks out fine. I find I have to reboot 2 or 3 times to get it to come up properly.
Btw, i like your power switch position. Can you post a pic with how it looks from the outside?

Re: mintypi problems
Be sure the ground on the battery board is well connected, I think this might be the issue as well as the Bat- wires.

Re: mintypi problems
I'll check that out as well. I'm going to relocate the sound card ground wire.

Re: mintypi problems
Nice, I like the idea of the switch inside, as long as it doesn't hit the screen. Less likely to turn on accidentally, and you don't have to worry about cutting the tin (I definitely do not have nice clean holes for the micro USB and power switch, little too much dremel, and not enough filing, guess I was a little impatient!)
I also see that you have the same sound card that I have, I have not had any luck with that one, were you able to get it working? I must have fried mine when de-soldering since they worked before that (I have 2, that worked when plugged in via USB and with headphones, but not after).

Re: mintypi problems
i actually had horrible luck with it. when i desoldered the usb from it i ripped two pads off and when installing i ripped a third. i actually soldered the wires right to the microchip on the bottom of the board. it seems these sound boards are really cheap quality. i havent been able to test in game though. but im not hearing any clicks when going through the menus. maybe because of these problems im having.

Re: mintypi problems
Wow, that looks sweet! I'm definitely doing that on my next build. Did you use the Adafruit switch? How's the fitment over the micro lipo?
