Can i leave out the sound components?

Post by VaultAtomix20 » Tue Aug 29, 2017 9:27 pm

I want to build a minty pi, but i don't use sound. It would be useless. Do i need to have that stuff anyway? :?:

You can leave it out, but there is a minor issue: if you try to drop out of emulationstation to a terminal, or any of the setup menu items that launch outside of emulationstation, you'll get a black screen (an issue with how the splash video works). If that bothers you and you want to fix it, make sure you've set up your wifi as described in the guide so that you can SSH into your pi, and modify the file /etc/init.d/asplashscreen. Change the line that says 'omxplayer -o alsa' to say 'omxplayer -o both' and it should fix it (the splash video won't try to play sound through the USB sound card after making that change). Hope that helps.

Cool. Thanks! That's gonna make building it easier!
