Screen goes blank after selecting game or menu
Screen goes blank after selecting game or menu
G'day guys, I have been putting Batman pie together but have found that I can select a game, but screen goes black.the raspberry pie led stays solid...and nothing else changes. It also happens when selecting an option from the retropi menu. It is also doing it with HDMI out also.
I have reloaded the retro pie image. Reloaded games.
Thoughts?

You need to have the sound card hooked up to have it all work. It was happening to me as well. I knew it was not going to work but I was just testing to see that both my Pi's are working. You have to modify the splash screen file to get it to work without sound. Wermy has posted how to do it in another thread.

I have had a similar issue occur recently too, the games are loading but I think it's a resolution issue for the HDMI. If you hook up the LCD you will see it is working.

Re: Screen goes blank after selecting game or menu
It happens with both...the LCD...then I shut down...remove LCD...attach HDMI....power up....select game or menu item from retropi. Black screen....
I get a boot screen...but no sudomod splash screen. I get emulation station screen...but can't get anything from there on.
Thanks for the reply

Which consoles aren’t working for you? If some are working and some aren’t, I’d bet it’s either due to using a system that needs a BIOS file (like GBA or PS1), or due to a bad rom set if you’re trying to use MAME or Final Burn Alpha or something similar.christofer_minestar wrote: ↑Thu Aug 31, 2017 6:42 pmSame problem but with come consoles it works, and some I get black screen for a few sec then I get back to menu and config just black. Ill try to get soundcard but I'm waiting for parts to ship I only have battery, charger, Altoids tin, copper tape and Pi. No sound card or LCD (been using HDMI)

Ok, yeah GBA requires a bios. GBA4iOS is probably using a reverse-engineered bios (or you already added a bios file for it and forgot or something). Please don't link to roms here. I'll update your post for you.
As for the splash screen that's usually an indication that your sound card isn't set up properly.
