Shutdown Button

Post by TheDeviantZen » Tue Sep 05, 2017 4:00 pm

Hi mates! I can use some of your help here.
Today I set my Battery monitor, and now I was trying to place the shutdown button. I did as the tutorial video but seems that the button dont shutdown the mintypi when I click it for some seconds. Do I heve to activate that fuction somewhere?

Other question,
How the hell you all could fit the button on the oposite side of the start/select buttons? lol
I placed mine as most of you did and it sits right in the camera connector, making a huge gap between the faceplace and the pcb :( too bad I already drilled the faceplate in that spot xD damn

You have to press and hold the button for a second or two. You need to install the button in between the Pi and the tin, measure from underneath the printed face plate.

Notice the X where I measured the button:

Works for both. Are you sure you soldered it to the correct GPIO hole and a reliable ground? Could you post a picture of how you have the button soldered up?

Edit: this is what it should look

First of all nice avatar, BMO is the best!
Not sure if you already got the button in but after making the hole I was careful to file down the 3D cover plate around the hole area to make it thinner.

It was still too tight so I removed the camera connector clip but the area sat further in on top of the camera connector and needed a little more space. I ended up filing the actual connector till most of it was gone, probably not a smart move!

Filed down the bottom black plastic of the button.

I was worried the whole time that if I ended up filing down to the camera connector pins or too much of the black plastic on the button my mintyPi would end up behaving abnormally but so far it's been okay, good luck!

You'll need a tact switch like what VeteranGamer used in his build. Same one used for the start and select buttons.
