Micro SD card incorrect size?

Post by Thechea » Sun Nov 12, 2017 7:24 pm

hey guys, i searched the forums and found a post about the file size of the micro sd card shrinking after flashing the mintypi image to it.

This happened to me. I formatted a 16gb sd card and flashed the mintypi image to it from the wiki. When it was done, it looked like the sd card only had 4gb. Is the solution in that thread what I need to do too or is my issue different?

You can resize partitions. Inside of Linux I am using GPARTED to do this job.

One argument to keep the partitions as small as possible is to make a not too big backup image

Do I need to do this through the raspberry pi? I'm not on a linux machine. I know the pi uses linux.

I did this on an external linux maschine: quick installed ubuntu on any available pc.
Micro sd card needs to be in this pc during the resize.

But isn't there an option included in the retropi setup for expanding the filesystem afterwards?
