Mintypi xl screen

Post by toomanylegos » Sat Jan 20, 2018 1:44 pm

I’m planning to build a mintypi xl and will be using https://goo.gl/1nYWkN for a screen. However, I’ve had trouble finding a breakout board to give a better surface to solder. If anybody could help me find one that would be awesome.

id suggest to get this screen.....
Rodocop has recently purchased it, and was happy with it (it does state it has a better viewing angle)

the board you can use with it is by Moosepr.....

Correct me if I'm wrong but that's a 3.2 inch screen, the mintyPi XL uses 2.8. I can vouch for that particular seller. I've purchased many screens from him, including that exact screen that you linked.

It is a 3.2" screen....

I only gave the suggestion, based on his link...,
Not sure what the screen size (or max screen size) of the mintyPi xl is or would be....

But the board would be the same....

if a 2.8" is the better fit, then this might be a good option.....

i'm not sure....
but if you have a mintyPi kit you might (again not sure) be able to use the board that you already have....
(it may just be a case of swapping the screens, i think both are 18pin)

The MintyPi XL is made for the 2.8 screen. That being said, a 3.2 screen may fit, however, the 3d parts would need some adjusting to accommodate starting with the screen opening which would be too small.

I plan on designing my own enclosure (with heavy inspiration from the mintypi xl) as I think I could shave off a few millimeters by using a thinner 2500 mAh battery.

You do realize the amount of free space in this enclosure you can put a 6000mAh battery without much trouble. Can you say 15 + hours of playtime?
