Prebuilt MintyPi: Broken. :(

Post by Danklord » Fri Mar 01, 2019 5:32 pm

Hello, since I don’t have much experience with soldering/electronics (yet), I opted to buy a prebuilt mintypi with the intent to replace it (and give this one to my brother) with the 3.0 when it’s available. After following the tutorial up to editing a text file to configure wifi, I inserted my micro sd with the mintypi img burned into it. It wouldn’t start up, but it gave off a hardly audible, highpitched ring. When plugged in, a red light turns on inside of the tin, but still doesn’t turn on when connected to power. I’m not sure whether this is due to bad soldering on the part of the seller or another issue, but if the issue is indeed soldering I can have one of my friends fix it (and learn something in the process on the bright side 😅) Thanks a bunch for reading! You should contact the seller but you've opened it up so they might not want to do much especially if you were messing around inside.

Don't contact me about obtaining my board files (as you will not get them). If my Boards or PCB Kits are sold out, they will be restocked as soon as I can get them and there is demand for them. You can join the mailing list on my Website to be notified when they are available.

This also looks sketchy. Make sure the black wire is not hitting the red there.

Did it work when you got it? It's hard to tell from the pics too. But it looks like they had battery voltage going to the switch (red wire from bat to the switch). Then a black wire from the switch to ground on the minty pcb. Thag should be going to VCC on the pcb. Not ground.

The only thing that's wired to the vcc is the usb positive on the sound card.
