What wires do I solder here?

Post by jhart3313 » Sat Mar 09, 2019 9:03 pm

I don't know what wires I need to solder here. I do know one wire is from the charger, and one is from the power switch, with the other two coming from the sound card. In the videos, there are only two pads, and each has two wires. I need help figuring out which wires go where. Also, my sound card was heating up. I think this is why but I'm not sure.

You run power from the switch to VCC (OUT+ or B+ from the charger to the switch, then to the board). And ground (OUT- or B-) from the tp4056 charger to GND.

You can use the other VCC and GND to power the sound card. Make sure you have that wired properly. If you reverse it you may destroy the sound card.

What's wrong with my MintyPi?

I've put everything together, yet it still doesn't work. It won't even turn on. Any Ideas?

Gonna be honest. Your soldering on the data pads on the pi looks really bad, and same with all the power connections. Clean those up.

Does the pi boot? Does the pis green status led light up? Does the screen show a white background? Or not power up at all. Need some more info to help.

It wont turn on at all. And for the soldering, I somewhat expected that. This is the first time I've done something like this, and that's about the best I can do.

Yeah. So if the pi isnt booting I can assume it is your soldering. Desolder the power connections from the pcb, and plug the micro USB into the pi. See if it boots?

Also this should be a disclaimer from here on out. If you buy a clone mintyPi as you have done so clearly above head over to the seller for help since he made it he should provide support not the people he cloned it off of.

Agree. It's hard to diagnose when we cannot be entirely sure that the replica is a like for you like product. Best advise to clean it up as Rodocop has mentioned.
