Hi! Is there a way to connect external led that will light up when there is low battery power?
Btw ordered 2 powerboost :)

Not something I've experimented with yet, but you may be able to connect an LED between 3.3v and LBO. As LBO drops to ground, the LED should light. I'll investigate further.

Just extend the existing LEDs on the Powerboost board. Maybe desolder the original ones, extend the solder pads by wires and install new LEDs wherever you want. I did this for charging and low bat. I used flat head 3mm types from ebay.

Hello Camble, I have been using your safe shutdown switch on my gbz projects and love them, I just wanted to see can incorporate a battery indicator in your safe shutdown switch, that will be really nice, just an idea? thanks.

Just from the logic point of view: if the battery is low, the raspberry will start the shutdown procedure... So there is actually no need for low bat LED, or? I man: low but is the indicator for trigger the shut-down circuit. From this point of view there is no need for a low bat LED. Just in case the shutdown function is not working, you could monitor the battery situation.

Stupid question but do I need to solder the DPDT switch to the shutdown board or just crimp the little tabs onto it?

The switch will need soldered on.

The schematic for the powerboost has a PNP transistor with the base on the LBO pin, collector on the LED/1k resistor, and emitter on VBAT. Note that the LBO pin by default is pulled up to VBAT, so it can go as high as 3.7V, which could cause a reverse voltage situation.

How is that a problem for a low battery diode? if VBAT is high then we don't want the LED on, and in a reverse voltage situation (3.7-3.3 = 0.4v) then the LED won't light, just like it won't light until LBO goes below [3.3-LED activation voltage]
