did you use any kind of base when printing, or did you print direct on the plate?

do you have to use the metal inserts?

Thank you very much
https://www.amazon.com/uxcell-M2x3mmx3- ... ss+inserts

Or you can order 100 from Aliexpress cheaper and mor quantity but well you know, 2 month later (SpongeBob voice) :D

Need to be very careful inserting them as they are tiny and too little heat will take too long and melt the entire post and too much heat will clog the threads. Best way I found to do it insert a 6mm m2 screw with the insert on. Make sure screw is screwed about 1 mm past insert. Screw in the screw to the post until brass insert touches the post. Now apply a soldering iron at about 700 F to top of screw vertically and slowly push it in until insert is flush with top of post. I used a chisel tip as it fits in the screw head. Wait for part to cool then unscrew the screw. Should look like my part above. :)

I print straight on glass with just a touch of hairspray for adhesion. No brim or raft necessary.
Yes I do have the metal inserts. I posted a link.

Thank you for all your explanations and helpful tips.
To avoid shipping fees for my country, I'll go with aliexpress and wait. Waiting is kind of my favourite game since I started my build ;)

Are the inserts required? How many millimeter are they in length?

For the model, I'm assuming it is scaled in millimeter?

They are definitely not required but since it is plastic we are dealing with, it will wear out faster if you are constantly unscrewing.

So, we have to buy M2 screws to that threaded brasses. Which screw length do you recommend to work well with the Gameboy shell?

If you decide on the inserts then yes M2 screws are needed, the standard Gameboy ones that come with the case will not work as they are a different thread made for plastic. I had a bunch of 12mm length ones so I cut those down to the size I needed. Didn't measure it but I'm guessing about 6mm. If you forego the inserts then the standard included screws with the Gameboy case work just fine. :D
