@RxBrad You can get the chips I'm using in regular DIP packaging, which plug into breadboards. They're also not the only components which would work. For example, you could use two separate To-92 MOSFETs instead of the dual MOSFET chip.
You can also get SOIC/SO-8 breakout boards, which let you solder a surface mount chip onto it, and plug that into your breadboard. It's not as difficult as you might think to solder surface mount components using a decent iron.
I'm not sure where you're from, but Electronic-Things in the UK have some. I've also seen them on eBay.

@Camble Interesting. Didn't realize those adapter boards were a thing. You can get them pretty cheap from Banggood, too (if you're willing to wait):

(not sure if you could use a 16 pin or not, but there's also this)

Possible that any prototypes are available for sale or when might you do a pre-order?

Hey Camble,
I managed to destroy my original GB power switch trying to ale it out of the board.
Will your safe shutdown include a new switch or should I work on sourcing a new switch?
Also any idea on an ETA for tge banggood version?
Cheers!!!

@Tron They will all come with a switch. I can't give an ETA just yet, I have a backlog of PowerBoost versions to send out before I order up any more PCBs.
