The power strip suggestion wasn't well known until after wermy made his Part 4 video after May 28th. Some of the posts you're reading are probably older than that or the people that made those posts just didn't know about the power strip idea before it was wired into their own projects. But yes the power strip is the best place to solder all your +5 volts and GND connections. That way you don't have to worry about any circuit boards not being able to supply enough power to a different separate circuit board.b0b3rman wrote:Guys one more thing that isn't clear for me, Ganreizu and Cannikin mention that it's maybe better to wire the screen board to the powerbooster instead of the Pi itself, but noone mentions the Powerstrip by Helder that Wermy uses to wire his board , why not connected it there like all the other componets? Will it still draw power from the Pi0 ?

I have the controller board "VS-PVI035V V2.0" and the Screen "PVI PD035VX2 V8.0", but somehow I have noise via composite in.
I tried some of the suggestions but non of them worked.

What about using some touchable screen?
I've found some for a reasonable price from used phones.
You only should have to cover it with the screen protector.
But installing it would be a headache..

Hey everyone just getting my build together using this screen. My main question is on the controller board it has 2 5v and 2 ground connected to the power socket. Should I attach both to the Power Strip, or do I only need to use one? and which set if only one?

Use only one of each. It doesn't matter which set.Moshiriously wrote:Hey everyone just getting my build together using this screen. ok guys I'm getting my build all made up and I want your opinions. I have my screen setup using a VGA to hdmi adapter. But should I just use the composite video to save space? Will the video actually take that much of a hit?
Re: Full VGA resolution (640x480) 3.5" display, composite in
hi, there, after over two months i recieved gerts 666 vga gpio adapter. has anyone used it with this screen as a substitute for the hdmi to vga adapter? board is not too big and maybe vga socket can be taken out and wired directly, what do you think? i don't have time to try now but i think it's not a bad idea.
Re: Full VGA resolution (640x480) 3.5" display, composite in
I soldered up the VGA GERT 666 and wired it to the VGA input of the board Cannikin bought (actually wasn't so bad as really only 5 pins for VGA plus the common grounds). Works and looks really nice, however realized I hit a snag as it uses the PWM pins normally used for audio. Currently looking for options, but not looking so good (unless someone else has worked around this.) There is a display_mode 6 option (the VGA 666 GERT board most places sell only goes thru mode 5), however regardless looks like when the driver is in use, it will always take the same GPIO pins regardless of mode.

Just an update... I ended up with Helder's AIO 2.2 board using the VGA GERT, USB Sound Card and USB WIfi adapter. I haven't finished with all the GPIO testing, but if math is right, should have enough GPIO left over for Camble's shutdown board. Very happy with the VGA video
Important to note selection of Wifi USB device not only important for compatibility, but also for power usage. Between the 640x480 display, VGA GERT, USB Sound card and Wifi board, some of the Wifi adapters I used actually were pushing the Adafruit 1000C board and I was having issues.
