Gearbest Variant 5v Conversion Help

Post by RetroTeacher » Fri Jan 13, 2017 9:59 pm

Hey Gang,

I just got my gear best screen in the mail after a lot of eager waiting (took awhile to arrive) and its a variant I have not seen before on the guides. Can anyone offer any help for making the 5v conversion? Thanks!

I'v just received the same board, yet to test it out. Looks like someone has already managed to get it working, 2nd pin of one of the ICs as shown in the photo: http://www.sudomod.com/forum/viewtopic. ... +5v#p21992

No worries, I won't be testing my screen until some other parts arrive so please let me know how you go. That board has 3.3v input markings, so hopefully the cutoff voltage will be low enough that 5v will just work without modifications. See if you can try that first then if it doesn't work run the wire to the IC.

This screen doesn't turn on without a valid composite signal, so keep that in mind it's not showing anything.

OK, I lied, managed to test it just now :)

Mine actually ran fine off 5v without any modifications. Picture looks good for an interlaced signal, brightness is good :)
