Collecting information on alternative displays - please contribute
Re: Collecting information on alternative displays - please contribute
I'm not sure if this is a new variant or not... but here's my controller board... btw- it was horribly packed in to the casing.. this screen cable never had a chance... as a reminder, always test before mounting!
See attached at the state of the cable when I opened it up.
This is a BW screen purchased on amazon.com
https://youtu.be/_Zuhop1hWsw <- figured why not.. test it anyway

Re: Collecting information on alternative displays - please contribute
I'm terribly lost
Last week I got my screen to work and I started to do some clean up with my wiring to get everything together and now my screen won't turn on it gets power and I even went as far as putting everything back to factor to test out the video if it still works

Re: Collecting information on alternative displays - please contribute
Hey Guys, I found, what was Posted as a 3.5 inch HDMI screen.
So obviously. I had to buy one.
First saw something similar in the 1UP GB build and thought
"that looks super easy Why aren't we using those?"
But I could never find anything smaller than 5 inches that would Post to the UK with HDMI
Now the scene has exploded and there are many Ebay sellers with similar screens and my screen finally arrived today.
(Wasn't expecting it for at least another week, coming from china, so it is super early in that respect)
First thoughts. It's wide. It struggles in a GB case, trimming would definitely be required.
I've managed to show horn it into a case but the sides are stretched and bow out a bit.
It does however work via micro USB with my 5v Pi Charger and HDMI input. Straight out of the box.
It's like attaching a pi to ANY other HDMI TV screen, really simple.
It has what looks like the option to use GPIO power and it has a 'touch screen' and came with a stylus. Not that I'll be using it for that.
Price wise it was under £20 been seeing them for under £18 since too. I'm pretty happy with it.
I just need to get the rest of my first build finished. Still messing around with Power and Sound to the point I've stopped actually progressing it. And not here I am again with more items arriving.
Any questions let me know

Re: Collecting information on alternative displays - please contribute
I used the same HDMI screen and I am happy. Only disadvantage: the screen size is something like 16x9. So the cutout from your screen boarder is quite different due to the geometry. I managed this with an adapted screen boarder sticker. Works great and I am happy about the clear resolution. Another advantage: the screen draws just approx 60mA current. You have to cut some of the controller board to get it fit into the GB housing. But the board is just two layer: so you can follow the board conductors where cutting is possible.

Well you have to look with a magnifier what is written on the processor.
My Disp looked different too. So I looked for the name on the image here

It is CHMC 1509
So I did and it worked
