I used the same HDMI screen and I am happy. Only disadvantage: the screen size is something like 16x9. So the cutout from your screen boarder is quite different due to the geometry. I managed this with an adapted screen boarder sticker. Works great and I am happy about the clear resolution. Another advantage: the screen draws just approx 60mA current. You have to cut some of the controller board to get it fit into the GB housing. But the board is just two layer: so you can follow the board conductors where cutting is possible.

Can someone give me some more info on the HD screens posted a couple of posts before?
I have pmmed the guys posting the pictures/info, but had no response

would love to know how to use this screen, can i alter the display area so i can use the usual cut out/screen protectors?

Hey guys!

Got a BW display on amazon.com from a seller called GoodWill Sky. Shipped from Hong Kong, $15.98 with free worldwide delivery. The motherboard is not like any other I've seen here. Also, it doesn't work with 5V so I had to modify it (red wire from 5V to a 3rd pin on AMS1117 chip).

The display is based on AMT630 Video Display Controller from ARKMICRO (http://www.datasheetspdf.com/PDF/AMT630/840049/9).
It has AMS1117 12v -> 3.3v (3 pin) voltage regulator to run all the logic (http://www.advanced-monolithic.com/pdf/ds1117.pdf).

Be careful not to remove a 8 pin chip there, it's a flash memory chip (marked Pm25LD512) presumably for built in graphics. It's the only 8 pin chip on that board so that's a distinguishing feature.

Also, the case didn't have any screws, instead holding together on plastic clips. The control board is on a separate PCB.

I read a while ago that some were having trouble with BW screen variant 8.
If so, here was my solution

I modified using method one from the wiki and wired to the Pi exactly as wermy did in the original guide (where he used the adafruit screen) here - http://www.sudomod.com/game-boy-zero-guide-part-3/

I haven't booted any roms yet but it retropie boots to emulationstation perfectly.

Mine just arrived from eBay. Looked like all the others and came in a nondescript white box.

Has a 3.3v regulator on the left, and looks like quite a bit of the right side can be trimmed. I haven't hooked it up yet and could do with suggestions for the jumper wire. No button board and looks quite a bit simpler than others. Halp pls.

Board has no markings on the back, "FY-3500" on the front, and identifies the voltage regulator IC as "LM2576-3.3"

According to Texas Instruments Data sheet, the far left pin on the IC should be power input...so if I add a jumper from that to the red, would that work?

So I'm just beginning my build and I bought this screen on ebay. Listing said it was 640x480, but I doubted it because of the price. After taking it apart, it looks like it might be used or refurbished.

There's a sticker on the back that said Innolux display, I looked them up and they don't make a 3.5" 640x480 display. I just got it today and haven't had time to play with it. I thought I would post some pictures because this circuit board looks different than the others on the wiki.

Does it fit into gameboy? I have 4.3 inch screen and it is way too big.
