I got mine from radio shack. Nope it does not have to be the same design at all, in fact you can use a breadboard without traces and make the connections yourself with wire/solder on the back.

Not sure what you mean by stripboard?

You can use stripboard or any other board, as long as you make sure the wires are connected.
The board is just some kind of base where the wires are kept in place and that you can glue somewhere.
You can even use a piece of cardboard, cover it in copper tape and solder the wires into a big glob of solder, if you want.
Not the best idea, but it works. So yes, you can use whatever you want.

The board that wermy used is just pretty convenient because of the design of the copper traces already on the board.
I just used stripboard without any preapplied copper traces and used tape + solder to create one.

Lol you would probably like the picture I saw of all the controls done with aluminum foil. That's what I bought copper tape for just as a backup.

Ah, yeah really any one of those types of boards should work, just make sure the circuit actually follows the same design as in the guide of course (easier to see in the written guide).

The GB Cartridge boards on Kitsch look interesting. They've got versions labeled pcb/socket/shell for $13 or just the PCB for $7. Does anyone know what the $13 versions actually are? And why there's half and full versions? I'm probably being kinda dumb.. are they including the SD reader? And the $7 one just includes the pcb with the exposed pads to add your own SD reader?

@wermy Awesome thanks, I'll check radio shack and microcenter. Can you tell me how well the audio switches to HDMI audio when plugged in? Also does the sound output to both L and R headphones when they are plugged in? I realize the sound will be mono.

I can definitely understand the reason these videos take so long. The video quality, edits, and accompanying written tutorial are better than I have seen on any other tutorial or website. Thanks for all the hard work and effort

The drawing for the one I'm making is Saturday. I don't want to push that date out again, so I'll hopefully have the last video done and published either this weekend or early next week.

That said, I'm starting to learn I should stop telling people specific days for these. :D Case in point: this last video I had been cutting/editing as I went along filming different pieces. So it was pretty much ready to go on Saturday and I had told people it would be up Sunday. Then my computer ate the project file for the video (videos were all there, but the arrangement/cutting/editing was all gone). So I spent like 4 hours re-doing all that yesterday and finally got to publish it this morning. ಠ_ಠ Not complaining! Just saying this stuff seems to go far less smoothly than I always plan haha.
