Game Boy Game Cart - How to open

Post by ako5ta » Tue Jun 14, 2016 6:46 pm

I did see the tool that wermy used to open the cart as well as a youtube vid on how to open it using a pen. The pen trick did not work for me and I don't have the tool wermy used, but if you don't mind having a small cut into the screw on the back of the cart, I found it easy to use to Dremel with an engraving bit to cut through the middle of the screw, then just use a flat head screw driver to open it.

For me the pen trick made the job. I had to burn and remake the shape of the pen a few times, but it worked. After that it's enough to open and close the cartridge a couple of time, but not more.

As soon as you have it open, replace the screw with a Phillips

Ha, thanks. I'm anti security screws so I replace them immediately no matter what. Did the same thing with the DMG, and any other console I've ever modded

Definitely a good idea to replace the screw, I have to admit that I did only try the pen trick once got a bit frustrated and just used the dremel to make a flat head screw top.

I just used tweezers to rotate it enough then gripped with my thumb and rotated the whole cart, it's pretty easy
