Yes, sadly it is the Pi.
I though the same first, but put the SD Card into another RPi0 and it worked.
I also tried another SD Card in the "broken" Pi and it did not work.
No visible defects :|
I am just glad it is only a 5€ part and not my expensive display or something like that.
Only a $5 part, albeit a quite rare part. Schade, Mann!

aaaand my PowerBoost 1000 C died, too...
It gets incredibly hot and shuts down every few seconds, restarting the RPi0.

Good thing i ordered a few spare parts. Among other things, another power module.

It smells like a short... Don't think your PB100C is dead.

Nope, not dead, but it constantly shuts down/resets.
It developed a strange dent on top of the MCP73871.
So i won't try to use it anymore. No short, since i only tried it with USB and 2 wires to the RPi0.
Everything is clean and no blank wires are touching something else.

The shuts down are due to the overheat protection I guess.
That's strange because overheat is often a sign of short.

I double checked every wire and connection.
And the microchip is not supposed to have a dent like this, i am pretty sure.

Well, i contacted the store and now we wait.
