Does any one have a guide for using a USB Dac with the volume wheel instead of the filter and GPIO pins that wermy used?

Look for my post under hardware>guides. The info is fairly similar. USB DAC L and R are going to go to pins 2 and 3. Pins 4 and 5 are output.

Awesome man! Looking forward to finishing mine asap

Wermy, do you think it's possibly to solder a USB network device inside, to keep the USB port in the battery bay free? Or do you think it would add more heat to the components inside?
Would it drain the battery faster, since it wouldn't be removable?

You could probably leave on the 4th USB port and do that, yeah -- it would just extend all the way across the case (and under the pi). Might even be able to use that 4th port for the external port data wires, and leave both of the middle ports connected so it would be removable. Moving the powerboost up top saved a lot of room in the battery compartment.

And yes it would make your battery drain faster - every device connected will have an impact on that.

I just wanted to say big thanks to you Wermy for making the guides, and spawning a really awesome community for fun projects like this. I can't wait to see the next great idea.

this might be a good alternative for a usb hub, with wifi built in! http://referencedesigner.com/blog/pre-o ... piwi/3140/

it connects to the pi zero with spring pins, no soldering. however in a gbz, its probably best to remove the spring pins, and solder wires from the pi zero to the hubpiwi. this way it can fit in the case!

Hey that's interesting! Looks like it has 3 ports after the wifi so I guess it's essentially doing what you described before: permanently connecting a wifi chip to one of the USB ports. :)

Something as simple as this would solve your problem of mounting the PowerBoost so high and not being able to disconnect the battery without opening up the case.

Man, sometimes it's the simplest solution that doesn't occur to you. Thanks! :)
