Actually, I didn't try to solder there...I didn't know that was an option. I also saw this in another thread, did you try to solder there? Maybe only certain boards will run off 5v naturally....It's odd for sure.

You might saw this in the thread where I asked other forum members to try this :)
Yeah, I know about this modification, but my soldering skills are low now - enough to just solder wires, not enough for any harder procedure - and I have mixed first, second and third pin together trying to solder the wire there =\

Ah yeah, I may have seen that thread, hopefully you have better luck with your next screen, hopefully it will run off 5v without any modification.
