Yea I guess the sonys arent made by sony anymore supposedly. I saw what some people were calling legit vtc4s pop up on a legit site a few months ago. Apparently there is a tool now to scan the barcodes and attempt to authenticate the battery.. thought I saw it over at /r/ecr. I use to build ecigs too.

Hi,

Frist charger you link is only for charge, and have no lithium protection circuit (which prevent overcharger and discharge).

I personnaly tried it with a step-up 3.7v => 5v , it worked but board heat was way too hot and made glue to melt! So i was afraid something burnt.

Then I tried this DC boost charger (can't found it cheaper on EU), it works now like a charm ! I associate it with a homemade battery pack 5000 mah (2x 2500mah - 14500 li-ion)

EDIT: here is a picture of the circuit in operation

Hello,

I'm planning on my own Gameboy Zero Project and I'm searching for all components I'll need. Can you tell me, if this charger has a poweroff function like the Adafruit Powerboost or do you just cut off the 5V output when turning off your GBZ?

There is this one even cheaper!

The 2nd you linked is just a step-up (boost) with no lithium protection and no charging module.
