So, even if you hit the button to go back a menu, the screen stays black?marcushg wrote:still in the selection screen without doing anything...i just scroll from a system to another and then black screen. whenever i press start key (enter) to get into the settings screen always goes black..

That is strange. I had a similar problem when starting a rom, but not when i was still in emulation station.
Could you try with a fresh install? If you do not own 2 SD Cards, write an image from your current one as a backup.
Just do not alter anything and see if it sitll occurs.

i've got plenty of sd cards... and with the others i just tried new retropie 3.8.1 and recalbox4 beta3, and none gives image !!! blank screen (well... blue). it's strange. trying to plug hdmi gives no image on the lcd nor the hdmi output...

The only thing thats left is to check the settings for hdmi modes and play with different values or some problem with the wiring?
I really don't know. Sorry.

It looks weird... i just reformatted sd card and flashed new retropie 3.8.1 and everything works. Now i only miss HDMI out, which is not a problem by now. So that means it is all software fault...

Trying to order this screen off of ebay. Did you guys had problems with making an offer?
They are sending me messages, including a message where they accept my offer. But they don't accept the offer on ebay, so I can't pay. I've written them, telling them to actually accept it on ebay and all I got was "OK".

no... didn't have any problem with the offer... sorry
Just for asking, i have a problem with my display,

As you can see (hard to notice in the photo but it looks worse) the right part of the screen looks brighter... it is easily seen when screen is just black. does someone know why is that? is it a defective screen? voltage related? too much brightness/contrast? i've checked the ribbon cable and i think it looks ok...

this display uses just 5v and that's what i'm using... (it's not a 12v screen) that's why before mounting i asked if there was any difference powering it from the pi (i'm using gpio 5v and gnd) or directly from the powerboost, and if there was a difference wiring just the yellow composite cable or the yellow and the gnd cable for the composite signal.
i just have no idea...
