its not that hard....

as HoolyHoo stated, as long as you wire up the board (ADS1015) correctly and install his script (mintyPi) properly... it should work...

i haven't tried it yet, but i have a few boards ordered (so hopefully soon)

plus because your using HoolyHoo script, it has a safe shutdown feature built into it (i think activated via a tactile), so that should cover you on that front too.....

I will really appreciate if you post here your testings, i’m really interested in this solution as it will allow me to do almost nothing to solve two functions i need to implement in my future project.

I've got some ads1015 on order too. But I assume it will be the same as the minty pi monitor. Wire battery to vcc and gnd on the board. Wire sda and scl to the gpio pins from the battery monitor install guide. Wire the switch as seen in the guides too and then install hoolyhoos script.

I'll post when my parts arrive too and can confirm if that works.

Ok thanks all, a bit hard to figure things out as i didn’t built a MintyPi and as i will need to connect the resulting solution directly to the Pi itself (not a gaming related project)

Yeah. The minty pi battery monitor is pretty strait forward. Should be similar with the board like this. Hopefully it will work on many situations.

I haven't used the board, but I can say that the ADC is as you say, very straight forward. It communicates via i2c so as long as the data pins are connected, it should behave in the exact same way

How would it go connected to the ADS1015 using hoolyhoos code?
I wss lucky enough to buy two of his boards beforr they sold oit but i would love to have the option to get other battery monitors

So you have two battery monitor boards? It's easy then. Connect the battery direct to batt- and batt+ then connect the SCL5 and SDA3 to the pi's gpio pins. Install the function button as well. Then install hoolyhoos combo script. Or just use the minty pi v4 image. (Depending on your controls and screen you may need to tweak some settings.)

If you're talking about a bare ads1015 board I assume it's the same. But you use VCC and GND and SCL and SDA on the ads1015 in place of batt+ and batt- and scl5 and sda3.

The exact wiring can be found on the minty pi battery monitor install guide.

Not to knock all the hard work everyone here is doing, it's great. But doing straight voltage measurement of a lithium battery with an ADC to try to determine the state of charge of the battery is not very accurate. The voltage curves of lithium batteries makes it hard to actually determine the state of charge with just a voltage measurement.

But there are actual battery monitors/fuel gauges designed to account for this. And many of them use the I2C protocol for communication, so they could fit easily into existing scripts
