I actually started with a 320x240 composite 3.5" lcd which is very easy to mod and setup but of course didn't take me that long tO realize the crappy quality of this screen. I was thinking of trying out the 640x480 screen but.. maybe some other time. Instead i bought the hdmi screen like the one you linked and still waiting for it to arrive. Yeah just for fun. We'll see. I'm also learning about spi and dpi screens.

Re: Collecting information on alternative displays - please contribute
Hello folks,
I have been collecting GBZ parts for some time, but my big issue (probably one of many) is the screen. And I mean big, cause the PCB just doesn't fit into the case. Here are some pictures, can anybody tell me what's safe to cut? I believe the K1, K2 and K3 switches are the contrast buttons, they were not soldered by default. Unfortunately, they lead to ground on the right-hand side (when you look at the photo)

Hi, I have this exact issue right now, and unfortunately after disassembling the lcd panel I have found that the LCD glass is broken. The broken glass has some wiring on it and that caused the white screen of death. Going to order a new one. I give you a hint, if you do not want to pay full ammount, look for the LCD panel and keep the driver...

Looks the same with the ones i used. If so, that will work with 5v/12v without any modification. I suggest you to mod it to 5v nevertheless.

If it needs modding it's the 8 leg chip on the left second pin up on the right of the chip.
