Do I have everything I need?

I have probably been planning this for a little less than a month. I had seen wermys game boy zero guide, and I became hooked figuring out what I would do if I made one. The goal with this GB0 was to be as cheap as possible, since I am kind of young and not old enough to have a job :| . I have got it down to $80. I could have got it down to $70 by using Helder's unpopulated PCB and doing the audio and teensy myself, but for about $8 more, I could include all the audio AND the teensy in one small board using Helder's all in one sans the usb hub board, so I went with that. Before I order anything, I want to know if I am missing anything, something is not right, or anything I should know before I do this.
Link to my google spreadsheet:

Just to make it clear, I am not going to make a cartridge reader, and I am buying a DMG housing, not a full gameboy.

Huge thanks to wermy for paving this whole thing down, thanks to Helder for making the PCB board, and some thanks all around to the community just for being active and helpful.

Screen cover if you want to go that route? I don't think I see anything you're missing. If you're looking to make it as cheap as possible, you can ask around for free / extra parts. I may have a number of these for you.

Just as a warning, that orange dmg shell you picked out is not a solid color. You can see through it and see the parts. I have the same shell and I plan on painting the insides with the same shade orange. Good luck man, it's a lot of fun and take it step by step and test as you go!

Have you included all of the tools you need? Soldering gun, heating gun, the extra hands tool to hold stuff, hot glue gun and glue, wire, perfboard, etc? These are the things that are going to make the GBZ prohibitively expensive for you unless you plan for it.

Just a few points which might make things easier or save you a little bit of money.

Your charging board has a USB port you can salvage, so no need to buy a new one.

I'd highly recommend this LCD as you know exactly what you're getting. The screens from amazon have a selection of different boards.

I bought this style USB hub and the board is nice and compact. Works well with the Pi Zero.

Lastly, check out this thread for potential Teensy alternatives. Just make sure you have at least 12 IO pins.

I know I have most of everything, I may need to order some perfboard though.

I actually want this, although I may change my mind. Can you send a picture of the GBZ in the orange case?

It's only 75 cents, and I will probably mess up the usb port trying to wrangle it off the board. Even wormy couldn't salvage the port's on his hub. Better safe than sorry.

Yes, I know this. I am getting my board specifically from e-life, and have checked what it says on the wiki and read someones GBZ post that used the screen.

On my spreadsheet, I put down that I already own a usb hub. although I may consider that if I break mine.

I am getting Helder's board that includes an atmega328 built in.

Thanks for helping me out everyone :D

do you still need an amplifier, with helder's all in one board?
i was under the assumption, the board included everything for the audio

No, I was just listing it in case I decided not to use Helder's board.

I'm getting permission denied when I try and look at your spreadsheet of parts. I'm thinking of trying to make a GBZ as well and have already ordered Helder's AIO board. It'd be useful to me to see a list of needed things for the build so I don't miss anything. Can you either grant permission or just list them individually in this thread?

Yeah, sorry, it should work now. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... sp=sharing
However, the wiki has a better list of what to buy. I just tried to get mine as cheap as possible. If you are comfortable spending more than $100 dollars though, which you probably should, I would definitely try and get more official parts, instead of things off of ebay like I did .
