I found this solution online I'm going to try tonight. It's just for the wireless issue unfortunately. I'll let you know if it worked for me.

I hope this is the solution, this is the reason I was asking about different setups because I was assuming it could be software issues. Let us know how it turns out and like I said my board theoretically uses around 600mA if it's fully populated with 4 USB devices but it isn't so there should be no reason it shouldn't work.

What's funny is that my board works fine with keyboards and other hubs don't but not much is mentioned about Wifi problems with other hubs but not even sure people have tried and posted about it.

@hueblo

We're you able to get your wifi dongle working? Does a flash drive work in the extra usb port on the aio?

I was able to get my wifi dongle and usb drive working if I bypass the aio and plug directly into the pi.

I was not able to get my wifi to work. I believe it's a software problem. Helder asked my to check the IC of the usb hub I have which is the same one as wermys, he indicated we might need some one who can write drivers for Linux. I had to take a break I'm having other issues with my AIO, I just threw money at my problem and ordered another one.

can anyone help me out here?

i am trying to setup my wifi on my GBZ.

the dongle is recognised, and when i go in the retropie menu, wifi, and connect to wifi it scans for wifi networks.

my home network shows up (MikaOnline), and when i try to connect, i must enter my password.

i do this, and after a while it prompts:

"unable to connect to network MikaOnline"

i have tested the usb dongle on my pc, and it works.

Also edited the wpa file, but this does not work.
Not even when i power on the gbz with just the wifi dongle in it.....

please help!

The seller of the wifi dongle told me that if it does not connect, there is a problem with DHCP.
So i must try to give the Pi0 a fixed IP adress.

so this weekend i'll try to figure out how to do that...

@BadBert

I solved my problem yesterday.
Found this tutorial: https://www.elektronik-kompendium.de/si ... 912221.htm
Text in german, code in English, (hope you can deal with it? 8-) ) and used variation 2 (Variante 2) after trying variation 1.
  • Variation 1 wifi configuration in file "/etc/network/interfaces.conf"
    (=> Variante 1 WLAN-Konfiguration in der Datei "/etc/network/interfaces.conf")
  • Variation 2 wifi configuration with "wpa_supplicant"
    (=> Variante 2 WLAN-Konfiguration mit "wpa_supplicant")
  • Variation 3 wifi configuration with "systemd"
    (=> Variante 3 WLAN-Konfiguration mit "systemd")
