No what I am saying is connect Pi->HDMI to VGA converter->another VGA monitor.

If this works there is nothing wrong with your converter. If it doesnt, you know where the problem is.

Oh, gotcha. Yes the converter is fine, the display and driver were fine as well until I tried to adjust the horizontal position in the on screen menu. AV still works fine but damnit, I wanted to use HDMI>VGA. I sent an email to the company who manufactures these display driver boards and to the eBay seller. Hopefully one of them knows how to reset to factory settings. Warning to everyone here though, do not attempt to adjust the positioning using the on screen menu.

So I got it working, turns out that I'm an idiot. For reasons unknown to me the pi disabled the HDMI output at the same moment that I was moving the horizontal adjustment. After reading some on HDMI to VGA converters coupled with the pi, I saw a common theme that the pi tends to not recognize the converter as HDMI so it disables it. It's frustrating because I tested the screen on another computer and got the same NO SYNC error and I'm not sure why. This had me convinced that it was the display driver at fault. As it turns out, all I had to do to fix it was open config.txt from the SD card and uncommented

Code: Select all

hdmi_safe=1
hdmi_force_hotplug=1
hdmi_group=1
hdmi_mode=1
I also uncommented and changed the framebuffer

Code: Select all

framebuffer_width=640
framebuffer_height=480
So, yeah. It's working, I'm an idiot, and the build continues.

Hello everybody,
I'm considering a Gameboy pocket based build, so 3.5" displays are pretty much out from the start.
Ergo; I was typing in random variations of PD035VX2 just now, and -much to my suprise- actually found an 'PD032VX1' :0

Do you guys think this is legit? It could be perfect for a pocket case, but I can't really find any info on it...
I'd guess its just a mislabeled PD035VX2, but I would like to hear what you guys think :)

2.5" is so tiny tho, pretty much the same as stock, I'd want at least 2.8" ;)

I also found some info on the one I mentioned:

PD032VX1
PD035VX2

It would appear the PD032 is designed for beamers, and as such doesn't have a backlight..
Does that mean it's not usable? or is there some way to Macgyver something together with this thing?
(I'm obviously not an expert, forgive me if it's a dumb question ;))

Update:
found a data sheet :D

Something like this would be perfect if I could get it to work..
(I might try this out actually, probably won't get it to work but it'll be a fun way to spend a weekend I guess, haha)

Hi old threat but seems the experts are all here.

I wired everything - screen black. Pi boots normal.
Wired the button board for screen on the vga board -> Led on but screen still black.
Tired to change source but the screen just does not power on. The VGA Board has 5V and on the Controller Board for the Screen the 3,3V are also there.

We tried everything but it just does not cause any reaction by the screen. Any ideas?
