Using nintendo 3ds analog stick

Post by wikusr6 » Tue Dec 07, 2021 2:51 am

Hi all,

Wondering has anyone tried using a analog stick from a nintendo 3ds?

It looks perfect for the build im planning, with the being low profile and sliding around rather than tilting but im concerned with its connections.

From what i can see it only allows for a ribbon cable type connection? Ill be using this with kites circuit sword and looking for any help with getting the 2 to interface well.

Thank you!

I’m using a 3DS analog stick in my DMG build. The ribbon is clamped down over four metal pads. If you careful remove the plastic covering this, the ribbon pops off, leaving you with four small pads to solder wires to.

I’m running mine through a Pro Micro and into my Pi3b+ as a USB game pad, along side the usual buttons. There’s room for more buttons and a second analog stick, as well.

I can post what I’ve done later on, if you’re still interested.
