Battery Life

Post by BigOlTexasBoy » Wed Aug 10, 2016 11:21 pm

I noticed that the build in the wiki used a lipoly 3.7 2000 mAh battery. What kind of battery life does that get? I am looking at the li-ion 3.7 4400 mAh https://www.adafruit.com/products/354 for my build. Thoughts? I was also considering using one of the control boards in hopes that I can keep the battery compartment. I don't have the Game Boy housing yet to know if that is even a reasonable expectation.

I believe that in the guide I read that the battery life for the 2000 mAh was about 3 to 4 hours? Hopefully I'm corrected if I am wrong, but I believe it would be somewhere around there with continuous use. As for the battery you have listed, I'm not really sure other than it lasting longer, but I think it would be able to still fit inside the battery compartment of an original gameboy dmg.

I've looked at this pack too but since it is made from 18650 cells, it probably wouldn't fit. The battery compartment is only about 12mm deep while this pack is 18mm thick. There is another thread discusses packs made from 14500 cells which is similar in size to AA, check it out.

these are 18650 batteries, way bigger than AA batteries.

AA batteries are 14mm (diam) x 50mm (long)
18650 batteries are 18.6mm (diam) × 65.2mm (long).

They will take a LOT of space unfortunetly.

Am also looking for a nice 3.7v power source with high mAh, not too big in size...but struggling to find something, and not sure if what I have in mind is safe with PB1000C and battery level indicator : four 14500 3.7v 800mAh batteries in parallel (http://www.sudomod.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=1178). 14500 batteries are the size of AA batteries so no need to touch the battery compartment, and result would be 3200mAh.

edit : burned...
