Custom GameBoy Zero RetroPie Splash Screen
Posted: Mon Sep 19, 2016 8:45 am
Hello SudoMod Community,
As you may or may not be aware, RetroPie supports custom splash screen's that can be loaded to play on start up. I thought it may be good to have a custom one for my project (and anyone else who would like it).
I put something together on my lunch break at work earlier and thought I'd post it for feedback from the community?
Note: This is a very early first draft and is probably a little too long (may shorten it by a few seconds).

EDIT (Sept 20, 2016): Please see below link and link to instructions on how to add a custom splash screen. I have yet to complete my project and as such can not test this myself if someone could please test and give any feedback (for example, if the ratio is off?).

EDIT (Sept 21, 2016): Unrelated, but someone PM'd me about a TV Box RetroPie Splash Screen so just wanted to share this if anyone else was interested.

EDIT (Sept 22, 2016): After some feedback on the screen ratio for the GBZ Splash Screen I have converted and uploaded a 4:3 version for download if anyone has any feedback on this.

EDIT (Sept 25, 2016): See this Splash Screen used by @wermy in his latest build: Game Boy Zero Custom Parts Guide Part 2 ( http://sudomod.com/game-boy-zero-custom ... de-part-2/ ).
Please note that I am currently working on an extension to this splash screen which should cover all of the boot text.
EDIT (Sept 26, 2016): I have now built a 20 second extended version of the splash screen which should (hopefully) cover the boot text after it is initialised. This extended version includes Logo's for RetroPie and an Emulation Station loading screen. I can customise this for other software if necessary, however I chose RetroPie based on my own experience with the RetroPie software.

EDIT (Sept 26, 2016) Pt. 2: The Splash Screen I uploaded earlier is not long enough to fully cover the emulation station loading screen built in to RetroPie, I've removed this and will upload another version once I have further feedback how long it will need to be extended by.
EDIT (Oct 14, 2016): I've re uploaded the longer version of the Splash Screen (see below link, now at 25 seconds). @RxBrad has advised that anyone using a RPi0 can get this to work for the full boot length by disabling 'Wait for network at boot" in raspi-config, unless you are constantly using WiFi I cant see this being an issue and is easy to turn on and off from raspi-config. I am still working on another version which would mean you wouldn't have to do this however between being very busy at work and my son being ill I have had little time to commit to this or my own build so may still be a little while before i get it uploaded. As always, let me know what you think. Also thank you to the people who have downloaded my splash screens over 120 times now.
